Visible but invisible – A tale of being single on social media

Hello – It’s been a while.

I thought I would start back blogging to try and share how I, and I am sure so many single people feel on social media. And to also encourage someone who feels invisible and not worthy because of the nature of how social media works these days. In honesty, sometimes I have felt so so discouraged because despite how many views, likes or comments you may attract, it is all artificial and still you will crave real life conversation and connection which social media very seldom offers.

What I would do is value myself based on social media metrics and if they weren’t so good, I would think ahh no one is checking for me. The truth is sis, bro – there are people checking for you all the time. It is the game. But, this does not determine your value. You are important if you get 1 view or 1000, or if the person you are crushing on watches your story or not.

Remember, social media is not real. It sounds weird to even say this, but spend time in the real world and offline. Connect with your friends and family who love you.

Treat social media like a job, show up with your dope content but remember your value is not connected to social media metrics. Whether your DMs are popping off or not, you are worthy and amazing.

Of course, it is possible to find love online and surely in this day and age this is where most connections are made. But love can be found in other places too.

Do not be discouraged, my prayer for you is that, whether it be online or elsewhere an intentional and consistent love finds you, and you are open enough to receive and participate in it.
Love,
Dom
