The power of perspective and mindset has never been so important. We are in a time where sometimes the difference between success and failure is literally hinged on whether mentally we can hold it together. Thank God, the Bible really does unlock the keys to success and this blog is going to show you how to operate from a mindset of peace and victory.
Sometimes when life happens the negativity comes from us internally, things like: ‘I just can’t be consistent’, ‘this day is ruined because I missed my alarm’, ‘man I just feel like a failure’, ‘I am not worthy’…. All kinds of things which are contrary to what the Bible says about us.
A great place to start when such thoughts come in your mind is this: when you are walking with Him, there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). Condemnation is a strong disapproval and usually unto punishment. We can condemn ourselves and on top of that we have an accuser (the devil/Satan) who goes before God day and night to essentially snitch on all our sin and shortcomings (Revelation 12:10). Thankfully for us Jesus already paid the price so all we need do is come to God, repent and ask for forgiveness.
To prevent us being accused in the first place we can shift our perspective by keeping our minds on Jesus and what the Bible says about us. For example, there may be a situation where the enemy will send a spirit of fear and he will want you to yield to fear. But, you can block it, reject it, send it back by having a mindset that God didn’t give me fear, he gave me love, power and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Remember, the enemy is the father of lies (John 8:44) and God does not wish for you to operate from a place of condemnation, because as mentioned above there is no condemnation in Christ, rather God has for you a mindset of victory and total peace (1 Corinthians 15:57).
Affirmations
So how can we achieve this? Well, there is power of life and death in the tongue (Proverbs 18:21), so we have to be careful with what we say and think about ourselves. Speak life, and speak the word of God over you as affirmations. Here are some that you can note down which I say over myself every day at least once at some point of the day:
- I am a new creation in Christ Jesus and all old things have passed away (2 Corinthians 5:17)
- I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalms 139:14)
- I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13)
- I have more than enough and I am abundantly supplied according to my Father’s riches (Philippians 4:19)
- God’s grace is sufficient and covers every single one of my weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9)
- God is my ever present help and He never leaves me (Psalm 46:1 & Deuteronomy 31:6)
- I belong to God and I am His special possession. I am a royalty (1 Peter 2:9)
- This is the day that the Lord has made so I will rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24)
- No matter what happens, all things are working together for my good (Romans 8:28)
- I am an overcomer because the creator of the universe lives within me and He is greater than any force in this world (1 John 4:4)
- In all things, I am more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37)
Remind yourself daily of who you are, cement that in your mind and your mindset will change.
Stay tuned for Part II next week where we will be talking about the pressure of external factors and how you can have a perspective of victory and respond accordingly.
Let’s get it! Let’s win!
