THE BASICS OF SUMMER MINIMAL STYLING

I love minimal styling because it is so versatile and easy and (the best bit) you do not need to spend loads of money to achieve a chic minimal look.

To start, colours. Colours and tones are so important, you want to ensure that you are buying tones that compliment each other because that means that you maximise your ability to mix and match your clothes to create loads of different outfits from only a few pieces. At the moment, I am loving the more neutral tones, whites, creams, greys, dark grey, black, brown and dark blue.

I usually take a top down approach to outfits, so I start with my top. I ensure I have lots of neutral tone tops in my wardrobe, from t-shirts to tank tops. In this summer climate, I have also picked up some one shoulder tops which have been amazing and pair well with so many different bottoms. I will link tops that I have been loving and that I have been using as my wardrobe essentials.

With the bottoms, I go by colour pairing according to my top. I may go, cream on cream, black on white or grey on dark blue etc – whatever you are feeling for that day. I find that going casual with the top and more smart on the bottom gives a really chic look. Don’t be afraid to put on a smart skirt with a t-shirt. I usually go for a lightweight tailored trouser or midi skirt. I love shopping at Cos, Weekday and Zara for the more smart skirts or trousers. Topshop also sell really lovely affordable, smart casual trousers. Having said all of this, my disclaimer always will be, you do not have to buy new clothes. Utilise your wardrobe, doing small things like adding a belt can really switch up the vibe.

For my shoes, on a normal day, I would stick on my Dr Martens or even Adidas Superstars Bold with an outfit. But, every lady needs a pair of mid height strappy heels they can comfortably walk in. This type of shoe can really give you that chic look to any outfit, with shorts, jeans, dress or a skirt.
