There is no denying that life can be really unpredictable. Because of that, it is so important to be (figuratively) nibble, to be able to be light on your feet, be adaptable and change when necessary.
Why is it important?
Sometimes your routines and habits do not serve the season that you are in. You could be in a season of rest and maybe you’re used to going at a million miles and hour, to pivot means you need to put the brakes on. Conversely, maybe you’re used to being more laid back with your routine, but this season of work could mean that you need to be more strict with your routine. Or it could be something way more subtle. Perhaps at work you need to proofread your emails more, check in with someone you usually wouldn’t or take an extra five minutes to prepare for your meetings… whatever it is that you need to do, it is important to do it because growth is all about movement.
Reasons why you might need to pivot
What are your goals? You may need to change some things for various reasons, how you evaluate what you need to change is based on your goals. For example, if your goal is to lose weight and you can’t get your workouts in, in the mornings, you would need to pivot by waking up earlier. Revisit your goals. Evaluate where you are and your practices and consider, are you being effective? In what ways can you improve?
Another reason you may need to pivot is because of outside factors. As mentioned in the beginning of the blog, life happens, the good and the bad. And when things happen, ensure to have the mentality that you are adaptable. Try your best not to let life overwhelm you – it is like that good ol saying, ‘when life gives you lemons, make lemonade’.
Pivot, adapt as you need to, to see the results you dream to.
