My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Colossians 2:2–3
Hello and welcome back to the blog. I am so excited to have you here for a very exciting blog which aims to give you tools to where you can be in a position to receive mysteries from God. A mystery is that “which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets” (Ephesians 3:5). The bible says that the mystery of God’s will is that “which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfilment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ” (Ephesians 1:9–10). Through Christ Jesus, you have been given the secret of the kingdom of God (Mark 4:11), but you have to cultivate this to be in a position to receive such secrets. It is that old saying, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting the same results… In the kingdom of God if you want more from God, you have to do more.
There are matters which are indeed hidden – “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.” Proverbs 25:2, it is for us to search out such matters. Here are some ways in which I try to be in a position to receive from God mysteries and secrets.
- Spend some more time with God
Some ideas that I have implemented into my routine, that you could implement into yours:
- Put 15 mins to one hour in your diary to just pray and listen to what the Holy Spirit is saying to you. Be intentional with this time, lock yourself away, put your phone on silent, put on some worship music or worship instrumentals and just bask in the presence of God
- Before bed, ask God to give you a dream. You can be really specific. You can say for example “Lord, give me a dream about where I am spiritually”. When you do dream, it is for you to then write down your dream, recall colours, people, how you feel and particular numbers you see, and then go back to God to ask questions about it so He can reveal to you what it means.
- Pray in the early hours of the morning. Yall, I love my sleep so this was really hard for me, but waking up at 3am to pray for 30 minutes or an hour is a game changer.
- Each week, have a book of the bible which you focus on to study. The bible is God’s living word and He speaks through His word. In fact, the best place to start to learn about the mysteries of God is His word.
- Be obedient when God asks you to do something
Do not be surprised when you spend time with God, that you get more dreams and you begin to hear Holy Spirit’s instructions more and more. Obedience is how you show God that He can trust you with secret information. How it may show up is like this, Holy Spirit may nudge you to pray for someone on the train, or He might tell you not to be involved in a conversation where people are talking about someone else, or it could be as simple as when you get an urge in your spirit to pray, go pray. God is looking for us to be obedient. Let’s think about Moses’ mission, it would not have been possible without strict obedience to God. Similarly to you, there are mysteries and things God wants to do through you on your mission, but what you will need is strict obedience.
- Pray in the spirit as often as possible
Paul tells us that we should pray in the spirit at all times (Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere – Ephesians 6:18) this is because it edifies our spirit man (1 Corinthians 14:4). When we connect with God, He is connecting spirit to spirit, so we need our spirit to be edified and ready to receive all instructions and mysteries when God speaks.
- Research scriptures and words in Hebrew and Greek
One thing that is new that I have started doing is researching words and scriptures in Hebrew and Greek texts. The English translated bible, sometimes does not capture the full context and meaning of the original texts. You can get so much revelation and understanding and you will find that hidden in plain sight is more mysteries of God.
The bible says if you search for God with your whole heart you will find Him (Jeremiah 29:13). You want to know mysteries of God, about God himself, the spiritual realm, your future… search for God. Mysteries are mysterious, so when you don’t understand, continue to ask God and look out for the answers. Christ Jesus is the master key to unlocking understanding, wisdom, knowledge, mysteries and secrets. Do not be afraid if God shows you things you have never seen – trust God.
Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. Jeremiah 33:3
Love,
Dominique
