I am putting my hand up to admit that last week was a tough one for me. I had a lot of lows and was so exhausted. There were also loads of highs, which I do not take for granted, but the lows were low. I also managed my time horribly, I am writing this blog post at 11pm on Saturday night, a.k.a my bedtime lol.
I had something else planned to write on this week, however, when asking God what to write about this week He said ‘Joy’…. I feel as though this is a word for me and if you made it to this blog post a word for you too. Joy and comfort are your portion in this season. I have highlighted a few scriptures, which the Lord directed me to:
Isaiah 43: 1-2
But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you”.
Although you have been through it, the Lord has and is keeping you. He is always with you and He is calling you not to be afraid at this time because of what it looks like. Face your situation, whether rivers or fire, because God is with you. For me, that looks like facing anxiety at work, continuing to deal with rejection and not feeling good enough or worthy, and overall, just feeling overwhelmed with life. Whether you are facing redundancy, relational issues, health issues… whatever it is I want to encourage you, it shall not overwhelm you because God says so! You are not in this alone, God is with you, making a way.
Isaiah 51:3
For the Lord will comfort Zion,
He will comfort all her waste places;
He will make her wilderness like Eden,
And her desert like the garden of the Lord;
Joy and gladness will be found in it,
Thanksgiving and the voice of melody.
Put your name in where the verse references Zion or her…. This is so exciting. Joy and gladness will be found in your circumstance, sweet sweet comfort. God is able to restore, transform and make all things new. I cannot add anything to this scripture. Our God is so good that He can turn the worst circumstances into something beautiful.
Isaiah 43: 10 -12
“You are My witnesses,” says the Lord,
“And My servant whom I have chosen,
That you may know and believe Me,
And understand that I am He.
Before Me there was no God formed,
Nor shall there be after Me.
I, even I, am the Lord,
And besides Me there is no savior.
I have declared and saved,
I have proclaimed,
And there was no foreign god among you;
Therefore you are My witnesses,”
Says the Lord, “that I am God.
A witness is someone who sees something first hand, they observe an event and can tell you decisive details. You and I are God’s witnesses, we have to see His goodness and wonders up close and personal. Then, we can go out into the world and testify of who God is because we have witnessed it in our lives. Single to married, made redundant to the job offer of a lifetime, anxiousness to total peace… you are going to be a witness.
I pray that this encouraged you. God is with you, you will not be consumed by your situation, your wilderness will look like an amazing fruitful garden and there will be joy and thanksgiving in that place. Lastly, I want you to know that you are the Lord’s witness, this means that you will see God’s goodness firsthand. Take this blog post and scriptures back to the Lord and ask, “What does this look like for me? What is the part I need to play in what you are doing in my life Lord?”
Love,
Dom xx
